IMPORTANT & HELPFUL INFORMATION regarding Medicare Advantage Insurance Policies:
~ Medicare Advantage Plans are also called Medicare Part C.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans are typically confined to local service areas and a particular network of providers.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans may include prescription drug coverage and other benefits not found in a Medicare Supplement.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans may become the primary and only source of health insurance coverage.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans require the insured to surrender the use of his/her Original Medicare Parts A & B in order for the
insurance company to cover both hospital and medical needs, except in an emergency.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans can be purchased in any of the fifty (50) United States.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by Life and Health Insurance companies and agents actively licensed within the state
in which the policy is written.
~ Medicare Advantage Plans are subject to underwriting; therefore, medical history may be reason for a declined application
unless the potential insured is applying during an Open Enrollment Period or qualifies for Guaranteed Issue.
Medicare Advantage Plans are NOT the same as Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans/Medigap Policies.
~ Medigap Insurance policies travel with the insured throughout the United States.
~ Medigap Insurance policies are accepted by all healthcare providers who accept Original Medicare Parts A & B.
(True for Standard Medicare Supplements. Medicare Select Plans require you to go to "select" or pre-selected providers.)
~ Medigap Insurance is a voluntary, secondary form of insurance.
~ Medigap Insurance policies may be written for approval any day of the year and do not have "lock in" periods like Part C.
